Playing around w/a SRT Charger today in traffic. Got boxed in w/other cars, and when the road opened up I had to turn. Looked at the interwebs, 475 ft lbs, 485 horse on the charger, but it's a fat pig. Had we run 'em from a 40 mph roll....who you think would have led out?

Some numbers I have seen for a 2015 Charger SRT 392 is 0-60 in 4.2 and 1/4 mile in 12.5. If your car is stock, I think the Charger would take you, even from a roll.
Even the thought of Playing in traffic, just disgusts me. knowing that my wife and children are out there driving their cars among these same low mentality challenged drivers... One of the only bad things about this forum from an administrative view is not to continue frowning upon any glorification of street racing, like they use to do here... Like I said, too many mental midgets buying these cars today.
Lost one of my best friends back in 1991 to two idiots playing around on the street, My friend was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and not a part of the event but was part of the " traffic " when he was hit by one of these two dumb kids. My friend left a young wife and two young boys. Jim was a promising young automotive engineer who I was mentoring.

I agree with Rick that's exactly why I put on a sc, I have no trouble with Mustangs, Chargers and Camaros. You would of got beat without a lot of road.

There is lots of cars with the c5 Hp or more, so I'm not sure what "these cars" has to do with it. You have a good point about street racing though but at least the c5 can handle it well and by today's standards its underpowered.
Had a little fun with an SRT 392 Challenger on my way to work a few weeks ago. They're definitely quick for such large cars. I started pulling on him when I shifted from 1st to 2nd though, and shut it down shortly thereafter. Have fun, and be safe.

I appreciate your stance given the circumstances and am sorry for your loss, but you may want to get the details before you pass judgement on people. I don't know that getting on the gas from a rolling 30 in a 45 and shutting down before 55 is "street racing". There's a difference between swerving 3 lanes at double the speed limit, or hitting a quarter mi at 100+ light to light imo, vs. having a bit of safe fun. I find it hard to believe most people haven't wound the cars up a bit with something quick next to them. But again - to each their own.

That is close to a stock C5 Z06. Pretty impressive for such a heavy beast.
Resist the urge!! I can't drive my Z down the hwy EVER without someone no matter what kind of car tries to race... It's really not worth the chance of an accident, not to mention a ticket for "contesting speed" on a public hwy. Most especially in traffic.
Conversely, I have been known to take it to "Mexico" where there is ZERO traffic on that stretch of hwy but its usually with a friend whom I know can drive.
As a caveat'..... I have ran a Challenger 5.7 RT in my 99 SS Camaro vert.... cam, stall, bolt ons w top down and put bus lengths on him. Again to be clear was NOT in traffic.
Would you have won? Perhaps... Could you have lost BIG? ( more than just the race) Absolutely... So, before you take the bait... "think" of the cause/effect of your actions on a public hwy.... Just my .02....
nothing wrong with "bench racing" I have found it best on here just to move past nay sayers. Sorry but Dodge for the win. Still though that dodge cant hang on the twisties and you get better gas mileage. Its still a vette. Best wishes

Time favors no one if you remain stock....give it a few more years and a KIA Box is going to blow you away.
True
OP cant tell from reading stats
(imo hed probably have smoked you)
Go pay $20 take it to a track and run all kinds of stuff;it only appears boring til you do it
Youll find over time youll beat stuff that "stat wise" should beat you if you can really get to know your car well; I beat plenty of cars that mph like a 12 sec car in a lousy C4 only due to the fact they launched horribly..and got smoked by a Honda or two also lol
Running on the track different than the st. And...no worry of tickets or anything else.

Sounds like I probably woulda got taken...bummer.
This guy lost it in the 2nd to 3rd shift in his c5z and went straight into a pole. From what I was told at the scene. And yes thats the motor on the other side of the street, probably the most unnerving thing Ive ever come across to this day.
Wide open roads and no one around but yourself sure.
