Default overheating strange ??

Hi I have a strange problem on my 2001 6 speed C5 !
she overheath a constant speed...I explain

over 100mph at the speed regulator on the highway she overheath degree by degree slowly until near 260°
if I put 100 mph in 5 gear she overheath 3x time faster

on traffic jam or town or moutain attack I have no problem

my water pump is near the end ?

All the cooling comes from under the car, are your air defectors still in place ??? crap in the radiator and condenser fins, best way to clean is pull the radiator and flush with water !!!!!!

Get under the front and look up between the back of the a/c condensor and the front of the radiator. There's a deep V going up to the top of the radiator, take a look and see what's up in there, I've seen plastic bags, cups, grass, and other debris stuck in there.

Like this:

You can also pull the top plastic shroud above the radiator and see it from the top.

This. Sounds related. With proper airflow the car should be easily cooling at speed. Your situation sounds similar to a car I had awhile back that did the same thanks to a plastic shopping back that got sucked up against the radiator.

The C5R front splitter is known to cause heating.

However! 100 mph in 5th gear is somewhere around 3500 RPM - at that sustained RPM, given the airflow of 100 mph, I imagine the engine shouldn't overheat in normal conditions. I imagine even with the splitter, it should be okay if your rad is clean. Other people can confirm.

Never I told you so....BUT 90% of high temps are from a blocked/very dirty radiators. The other 10% is the water pump, hoses, tstat, pressure cap, old/bad coolant etc.

P. S. The entire front end is a vacuum....I've found plastic bags (Walmart), a t-shirt and tons of grass.

Wow, that's the worst I've seen so far. That'd be your problem. After you fix it, enjoy your cool (literally) car!

I run a 160 tstat in the hot South Florida summer (around May to Sept.) and a 180 in cooler weather.
