I change mine once a year since I do not put many miles on the car in that period of time, but you will be fine on yours. Of course, it's obviously your choice if you do it more frequently than you really need to.
$40. dollars with a filter at Walmart....I find it very relaxing, cold garage floor, on my back and NO world worries. Changing oil and a couple of beers, life is good.
Yep !!! your too busy keeping all of us in line (I did not just say that)
I can't help but call out BS when I see it
I actually planned to take mine out yesterday afternoon but a random downpour kept it inside the garage. I guess something has to sit there to keep the garage from floating away so it's still serving a purpose
You, sir, are completely wrong. This is the only oil that makes your engine run right and smell good:
Nope. You need Castrol "R" to get the smell right - pure old style race car smell. Probably mess a modern engine up but good! It was always considered a "one event" oil - put it in fresh before the race and dump it afterwards.
1. It's an amazing car and a bulletproof engine, so if you use high quality stuff, only change once every 20k. If you want to change every 3k, save money by using whatever you have lying around - used oil from other cars, lithium grease, diesel, corn oil, whatever.
2. Filters just reduce flow. Don't bother with a filter. Just weld a plate over the filter hole.
3. You can run it entirely without oil for like a hundred miles. Oil weighs a lot so if you ate a bunch and don't want to reduce your gas mileage, just drain the oil before you drive home.

Pretty solid advice. Matches up pretty close to what the German manufacturers started recommending right around the time "free standard maintenance" started being offered.
[QUOTE=Murray Anderson;1592901939]I've never encountered fluids in my tires and I change from summer to winter air every October.[/
It leaked out maybe you put you winter tires on in the summer

I, too, am a fan of "lifetime transmission fluid."
It lasts about 100k, maybe 120k, then the transmission eats itself.
So technically they are correct. The fluid is a lifetime fluid. But the lifetime would be a lot longer if it weren't.
Well akapounder, just read your thread again, damn thing had me smiling all day. Thanks to you and everyone else who joined in to provide a bright spot in the day! We sure could use more of this light hearted bantering. Too often, tempers seem to flare and we are not as good with each other as we should be. A refreshing respite from the usual. Everyone take good care and be safe!
