My dash info says service tire monitoring system and goes away when I reach high speeds comes back on when I shut the car off and turn it back on and no pressure reads for the tires. I saw on youtube how to reset the tire system what do you think? I have not done this yet.
And one more thing when my vette gets hot and I'm turning into a parking spot it makes a sounds like a FORD with a bad power steering pump I've checked the fluid, and its not hard to steer any ideas on this one.
The TPMS sensors are battery operated. If you are seeing a message on the DIC to service the system then potentially a battery is failing. When you scroll through the DIC to each tire reading the offending TPMS will likely be "blanked" or "zeroed". You can attempt to reset the system but it will not alleviate a failing battery. Additionally, you would have to purchase a new TPMS sensor. The internal batteries are sealed and while there are threads and reports of people cutting the material out and replacing the batteries it's a tremendous hit-n-miss kind of thing.
While your C5 has a power assist setup like any normal power steering rack, the steering system on the C5 utilizes a setup called Magnasteer, largely controlled by the EBCM, through sensors in the steering wheel. The initial procedure before beginning any detailed work is to see if you are throwing a code on the DIC. If not, then the next step is to ensure the power steering setup is alleviated of any air in the system (bleed the system). This can only be performed properly via a vacuum pump, which you can rent from most parts stores should you not have one. After those steps are performed you can then diagnose for possible mechanical issues with the rack.
