I recently purchased a 2003 Corvette. The previous owner told me he had aa problem with the driver side headlight. He said it was grinding and would not shut off. He had the gear replaced and it was fine. About a week ago I began to have the following problem. When I go to turn the headlights off, the driver side goes down but then pops up and stays in the up position. There is no noise. I then have to manually crank it down. Could it be the repair was not good or could it be the module?
Check the condition of the headlight insulator/bump stops. If they are missing or have deteriorated excessively often the headlight motor will "bump" once it's reach the closing/opening limits.

You may also want to look up the TSB regarding adding shims to the headlight gear. The later style plastic model housings like you should have on your '03 are known to have issues.
