When I went to start my 2001 C5 this morning, the right headlight came up. The headlight switch was in the "Off" position. I turned the switch to the "On" position and the headlight stayed in the "Up" position. When I turned the key off, the right light would go down. I have had problems recently with the Left light not coming up when the switch was turned to the "On" position. Usually after cycling the switch a few time it would come up. Help please.
Open the hood, look at the end of the left headlight motor. There is a **** that allows you to manually raise the light by turning the motor over by hand. Turn it a half turn and try the lights again. Mine seems to do the same thing twice a year and recovers after a little manual turn. Maybe a dead spot in the motor. Usually happens when I'm out drinking or it's raining but knowing this trick beats driving home with one light after a few beers.
Old issue - most default to the gear replacement but if there is no grinding I would try the bumpers first. You can buy them at Eckler as well as at Rodney Dickman's.
