I have a 2000 C5 Corvette, i recieved a DIC message Sytem Charge Fault, my voltage reads 0.7 on the gauges. I replaced Alternator and battery and unfortunetley it did nothing to even help. The car is acting as if the Alternator is bad, it wont allow it to charge my battery. I took the alternator back thinking i got a bad one. they gave me a new one and tested it as well. Still the new battery wont charge. I have no check engine light on and car will die, because the system wont allow the alternator to due its job. does anyone have any idea what this could be? I literally am running out of ideas, i cleaned the grounds i checked the fusable links at the starter i cleaned the connectors by the PCM. Please someone help!!!!!!!
I hope you kept your old alternator to get rebuilt.
I do have the original Alternator and going to take it to get rebuilt as you suggested. If that doesn't work what all else could the issue be? I don't understand the beautiful complex machines. They really are like woman in every way Haha fun to ride, but its the little things we don't pay attention to that ruin everything.
Alternator in the C5 is a nasty beast and does NOT like being replaced by just ANY alternator.
Yeah the electrical system on the C5's are a pain in the ***. Going to get my old Alternator rebuilt. If this doesnt fix it what else can the issue be?

A few things:
1) Have you tested your original alternator? Are you positive it is bad?
2) When you checked the fusible links at the starter, did you test both of them for continuity and cleaned the contacts at the starter solenoid?
3) When you say that your gauges report .7v, what voltage does your battery have measured directly at the posts with a multimeter?
4) Using a multimeter, what is the voltage between the alternator and the positive post of the battery? It should be zero or very, very close to that.

Good thing you kept your original alternator. Plenty of horror stories after replacing alternators. Just do a quick search on the subject and you'll see.
The only two times I ever got a Charging System Fault was right after installing non-original alternators. I finally found a non-original that worked, but took me 4 tries!
I’ve had this message pop up once, but it hasn’t popped up again. Should I be worried? Is there something I can check to investigate the matter, I didn’t have any error codes listed in the DIC
Considering this thread is 5 years old, I'm guessing he got his electrical system fixed.

I too had this happen this week. I have a massive audio system and I was jamming at the time. The pop up hasn't returned so I'm not worried.
