Nice day in Ohio today. Took my car to the self serve car wash. All clean but the car wont start. Clutch in, turn key and one click. Engine won't turn over. Of course this happens away from home....

OK, how did you get it home? Had the same thing happen to me. I took the key out, washing it with a bottle of water, dried it, inserted it several times and wala it started. That was about a year ago. Have not had any further issues. I did spray electric cleaner into the key assembly.

It has a new TDR in the foot panel passenger side. Checked fuses, look ok.

One reason why I do not use water to wash my car.

It might be an unrelated thing such as crankshaft position sensor. Mine randomly went out and my car would not start. good luck

Did they say starter solenoid was fine too? There is a difference.

If no water then start checking the other things mentioned in my first post.
And water intrusion from washing the car. Check behind carpeting/floorboard pass side.

Far as solenoid...I had issue X2 with my low mileage 03. Rec'd tip to strike the solenoid with wood while someone turns key. Started right up.

I had everything (lights/radio etc) when issue presented itself.

Shop said they think it has something to do with the theft system but the relays are all good. Told me it will have to go to the dealer for diagnostics if their 'reset' procedure doesn't work

How much are they charging you to not fix it?

I am at the shop now. It will crank and start up by jumping the starter or TDR but will not stay running. A key recognition problem?
