C5 ash tray area upgrades
Looking for creative ideas utilizing the ash tray area of the console. If you have modified this area of your car, please describe and post pics below. Thanks.

Not sure, open to suggestions. Just a totally wasted space right now as I am not a smoker.

Mine is not all that modified and my phone mount is right in front of it, the drink holder and ash tray are useless, after my DD Mod I use the ash tray for my USB stick !!!!

This has been covered before, do a search. I pulled out the tray so my garage door opener could fit in.

Ok thanks. I did try a search but apparently missed it. I know I have seen various buttons and switches mounted in there, but never knew exactly what they were for or how they went about doing it.

I'm in the process of clean-installing and hardwiring a Garmin 295W GPS unit. It's only 2.5" high, and fits perfectly. I'm working on the hardwire arrangement and the bezel right now, but it will be offset from the shifter, so it will be perfectly visible, an nicely shielded from the sun. I've tested it there, and it gets great reception with the top on, so I think this will work. A few people have asked me why I don't just go DD, but I really like to keep Corvettes stock when it comes to the radio. I'll post some pics when it's done- I think it will be pleasantly surprising.

On mine the bezel was modified during a double din head-unit upgrade to remove the ashtray and install switches for heat warmers and an additional 12v accessory outlet. Oops. Meant to say seat warmers.

Never thought of the garage door opener, I think I'll try that!
I'd love to be able to have a non-slip/slide cubby so I can put my phone in there (and not have it shoot out). As it is now, I usually rest it in the cup holder, but it doesn't like to stay.

wideband and meth controller... I'm thinking about running dual widebands so I might end up changing this but until then this is how it will stay
