I have a 1998 C5 that the battery went dead. I jumped it off and it was idling in the shop when it went dead and wouldn't restart. I am getting codes p0601 and p1518 with ABS and traction lights on. I sent the PCM to a repair facility and did not change anything. I have seen a few other posts dealing with this but no fixes posted. Please help.
The alternator is good and the battery is charged and cranks over good.
Right, but does it have a bad cell? Just about any auto parts store can test a battery, some while still in the car. This can affect sustained voltage.

I'm gonna take a battery home today and swap it to see if by chance it makes any difference. I will post the results tonight.
Get the battery tested to make sure its good. One afternoon I went to start my car and it turned over a few times but didnt start. Eventually didnt do anything. Ended up having a bad cell, installed a new battery and its been happy ever since.

I agree the easiest thing to do to start is to get the battery tested to ensure it is good. Post up the results of that and more help can be given if needed.

I would never jump start one of these cars unless it was an emergency. The electronics are extremely sensitive and there are pages of threads to attest to that. Disconnect battery. Make sure it is at is at 100% charge and make sure all connections are clean and tight. Those are the first things to do.
I replied to your post on the the Tech forum, but after reading the General Forum discovered that it does crank but won't fire. Have you checked spark at the plugs and maybe checked fuel pressure at the fuel rails, it could also be your ignition switch contacts not providing enough voltage to the PCM. Good luck, and keep us posted when you solve your no start problem.

I read somewhere that also, do not jump it, take out battery (if left in and charging could overflow acid where you don't want it) and charge it then reinstall !!!
