Hey there ive been browsing these forums for the last couple of hours. I have a 99 vette. Ive tried to narrow down what each driving mode actually does, however i have not been able to find a direct answer. Ive also not been able to find what you guys are talking about maybe its a different name so im posting a picture of my controls. Traction control is on the left you guys ive seen it posted as handling control like wtf ? maybe its an american thing anyway i want to know what each of the three drive modes do, ive read all about the shocks and how they suck but no one has actually taken the time to describe what each of the three driving modes are supposed to do.
A description of each would be greatly appreciated
The ride control (or F45 option) controls the stiffness of the shocks. Tour being the soft ride followed by sport then performance. Most people have a hard time telling the difference between the settings and just replace the shocks with less pricey ones when they go bad.
Maybe it's just me, but I can tell a difference between all 3. Tour is somewhat compliant, especially on the beat up interstate system in the south. Sport is noticeably stiffer and performance is teeth rattling on most anything short of a smooth race track. My car is 01 convertible.

In the picture you posted, the left button on your car is strictly for traction control. If you had the active handling option (which would be controlled by that same button), the words "Active Handling" would appear in white above the button.
If you can't tell the difference between the settings, your shocks are "done". All three settings on my '98 are softer than they used to be, but still noticeably different. I now refer to "tour" as "Buick mode", but I do like it on lengthy interstate hauls, and when I have a passenger on board, I always get the "I can't believe how comfortable this car is" comment.
