Are there seats that put the driver position lower than the stockers? Is there a way to mod the stockers? Im 6'2 and most of my height is in my torso. I fit fine but I dont think I would fit to well with a helmet on. I was looking at the Corbeau A4s. I do not have to keep the power seats.
You can use an old Auto-x trick, and remove some of the springs in the seat cushion. This will give you a couple of inches, at the possible expense of some comfort (didn't effect me any).
FYI the corbeau A4's sit same height as stock. Maybe a tad taller. When I ordered my A4's I did the 1in shaved bottom. Helped out alot. I needed more room to wear a helmet.
Good to know. Im 6'2 with most of my height coming from my torso so head room can be a premium. I fit great in a c5 but Id like a little more for track days
I had A4's in previous cars; even with 'low' mounts and shaved cushion, I did not have much more room. I ended up having to remove the seat cushion & sit on the springs for track days!
Look at the Corbeau EvoX. About the same price, fits and looks great, much better headroom. I cannot recommend them enough.
The C5 seat bottom has a matrix type of spring with foam sitting on top of it. You can remove the spring but you stand a good chance of being very uncomfortable as the foam will be resting on all of the parts under the spring. If you have the memory seats the memory module is clipped to the spring. The memory module has to be in place if you have the telescopic steering wheel as the wheel will not move without the module being plugged in.
The lowest you can get would by using a fixed seat mount like the old Hardbar mount and an aluminum racing seat. That will get the seat bottom about 2 inches off the floor.
