I have friends who who gone the $100K plus route for C7's. The thought of shelling out (or owing) that kind of money for a car gives me the creeps. Opinions vary, but the starwarsy look of the C7's leaves me cold, in spite of their performance (which I do admire). Opinions vary but I still think the smooth aero type styling of a C5 is awful hard to beat. Whenever I see $100K price tags it just makes my already gorgeous (and paid for) C5 look a little better! Y'all take good care!

I met a guy at the Rose City Corvette Classic that had an amazing ZR1 with full custom interior. He said he spent a little over $100k on the interior because he felt it was awful when compared to other cars (and I agree). He said he had traded a Ferrari in on the ZR1 and still had about $100k in the bank from the trade.
He swore the ZR1 would beat the Ferrari in every category. He said once the interior was corrected it was one of the better cars on the market.
I am guessing you would have to have a minimum 6-figure annual income or cash to be able to "afford" one (lease or purchase).
I have purchased 10 New Corvettes in the past and for the first time I cannot swing a new Corvette (and afford it). Even at the age of 21, I was able to scrape together enough money to special order a new 1972 Corvette and pay cash! Now, after taxes, home insurance, car insurance, health insurance, business insurance, liability insurance, water & sewer insurance, life insurance and base expenses, that pretty well sucks me dry (and I am making more than ever - but apparently not enough!).
I am glad there are so many people left that have that much disposable income!

I think the OP misses the point that, there's ask'n price, and there's get'n price. Nobody is paying sticker for these things. The incentives are HUGE. I know of a person who bought a 16Z for $72k out the door. That was a 1LZ black on black, M7, ... Those stickers will stand still for them to print anything on em. Don't believe a word of it.
Upgrade the interior? This guy truly has tooooo much money! LOL (he probably had bad teeth and out of shape to boot)
The power seats he had in there were amazing. The C5/6 Corvette seats are crap.
As for the C7, it has proper seats. I do wish they would have stuck with the 6 speed because I could see myself in a C7 GS with Z07 package for sure. I know it's just me on the 7 speed hate.
The C7 is an engineering masterpiece no doubt but aren't we at about the limits of what we can get for street cars? Hell you can get a mustang that will go 190mph off the shelf maybe 2 bills if the conditions are right. Might not keep it up for long but they can do it. There is room for improvement on suspension and handling but how long till big brother puts a kabash on automobile mph like they threatened to do with the superbikes?
I would love to get a C7 but if I can make my ole C5 keep it together at 190mph and maybe keep it on the road with a few more gforces than you see on the interstate my life will be complete. I don't think you can call a corvette a sleeper but maybe a sleeper for a vette.
