I am installing LG Street Series headers. I purchased them used but they have never been mounted. When I got them I saw there was no air tube fittings on them. I am looking for pics or any information on removing hoses and pump and any thing that needs to be done besides a tune with this mod.
It's fairly easy. I just removed anything connected to the air system, you'll find it easy to figure out. Really cleans up the engine compartment. The only thing you'll need is to get the air pump tuned out of the system or you will always have a check engine light, the car won't run any different.
In preparation of my off-road header install, I just removed the hard lines to the exhaust manifolds, removed the attaching bracket from behind the drivers side head and all the rubber hoses leading to the air pump. Left the hose to the air box for now, and removed the fuse to the air pump. I also had to use some block off plates on the manifolds until the header install. Drove 60 miles and no codes. Will remove the pump after the install.
the worst part is the bolt behind the driver side head that holds the pipe that runs along the cowl, what a pita
I need to remove the pipes running behind the heads. What's the best way to get them off? Is it only one bolt holding them on and how did you get to it to remove it?
Yes, one bolt behind the drivers side head. I took mine off while swapping the intake manifold. Took a dremel to it and cut it so that I could bend it enough to get to the bolt. You don't have to remove the bolt, just get it loose enough for the bracket to slip out since it's slotted.
