Finally, I got to finish all the little things and added all the new fluids and turned the key. It started right up and built 60+ psi oil pressure at idle and purred like a kitten. All gages showed what I would expect and after idling for a minute the smell of gasoline got my attention! I opened the door and saw a pool of gasoline running across the shop floor! Apparently at some point a fuel line or filter sprouted a severe rupture. I shut down immediately and tossed cat litter on the fuel and dried it up. I'm still pumped about the sweet running engine though. Tomorrow I'll dive under the car and find and fix the leak.
I'll leave the engine covers off until I'm sure there are no leaks anywhere on the engine after I let it run to get it up to operating temps. Then the hood goes back on.
