I have a 2001 C5 that i had stored with the battery disconnected. When i connected it today to move it, now when i start the car the headlights turn on and go up (which it never did before). Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?
Check your twilight settings and see if they've changed. Could be that your car thinks its dark so the lights are coming up due to the auto twilight settings being enabled.. It's in the manual.

^Twilight settings.
The first thing I did when I bought my C5 was turn the Twilight Sentinal off. All it does is wear out the gears in the headlight assemblies.
It was odd as my car has never done that before - i was curious if something reset due to having the battery disconnected for a month.
Is it in a darker place?
I turned my Twilight sentinal off 4 years ago and pull the battery out over the winter every year. The settings have never changed when I put the battery back in. It's possible I guess.
inside my garage - but the door was open letting the light in. Again seems ok now - just trying to diagnose why it happened. Only thing different was the fact that the battery was disconnected for about a month now.

All of the memory settings defaulted to the factory settings due to the lack of power.
My 03 reverts to OEM settings if it sits for two weeks. Don't know why yours lasts 6 months?
My memory settings have never changed when the battery is disconnected. Even the radio presets remain the same. At least they haven't changed in the last 4 years and half that time the battery has been out of the car. Mine is an '01.

Do you have a HUD? Mine goes back to the "full screen" setting even when the battery gets a bit low. I replaced the OEM radio with a Pioneer and it is a little better about keeping the pre-sets.

Yes, HUD, Twilight Sentinal, CD changer and every other option and it's totally stock.
