2001c5, a4. When ignition turned to on position, headlights come on with switch in off position. They go off when key removed. With engine start they come on. This may be an extension of a problem when I last drove. After driving about an hour dic message low oil came on (not low I checked it before leaving) and fuel gage went to zero, the speedometer was showing twice the actual speed. Tried to clear dic but nothing happened. No codes showing (same with current headlight problem). I messed around trying to reset dic. After awhile all went back to normal. Not sure why. Any suggestions?
44000 miles on car.
I'm no expert compared to many on here but this has an air about it that smells like voltage or ground issues. Check the battery voltage first. With a meter. If all is good then the grounds. There's many posts about the c5 ground issues. Others feel free to chime in if I'm full of crap.
if it were just the headlights, i'd think it was something wrong with the daylight sensor... try turning off the "twilight" feature with the DIC options... to it keep the headlights from turning on/off automatically.... you may know this already, but, If twilight is on, and its dusk/dark out - they are supposed to do that.
but, those other issues sound like a bigger electrical issues....
Thanks to everyone for your help. When it comes to headlights I'm not to bright. I thought the twilight mode was off because It has been off since day one. One of the posts suggested to check this (don't now why I didn't think of it. I know how the twilight mode works.) I did and it was on. Turned it off and no more problem. All I can think of is the mode was changed when I experienced the gage/dic problem mentioned previously. On that account I took a two hour drive and no gage/dic problems. Hope this isn't an intermitant problem.

i'm glad that helped. I almost didn't post it because I figured you probably knew that -- but i remembered when i first got my C5 in the spring, i was trying to figure out how to "override" the headlight auto-on.. and the only way was to turn that feature off completely...
Hopefully your other issues were a fluke! Good luck!
