Front plates are required here in MN too, but I see a lot of nice cars foregoing them. So far I have one season with no plate. My guess is that it would be an add-on for me if I get stopped for some other reason. I keep my front plate on a Zip removable holder on the chance they might let me put it on if stopped . . . or I can claim I just came from a car show.
PS: The Zip removable is a pretty nice front holder.
Depends on your state. I know both New York and Maryland vigorously enforce front plates while others tend not to bother people about not having them. I have seen an option that allows the front plate to flip under the splitter out of sight until Mr. Fixit needs to see it. Saw that at a car gathering here in VB.
Down state NY can be a problem for all sores of chicken chit regulations, up where I live North of Albany not much of problem. I lived in Albany itself for years with only questioned twice where was my plate.
On my 7 Vette and the front plate is in the trunk. That works out to about 30 years of good weather driving (6 months a year)
A lot of states requiring them don't enforce the law, but others are zealous about it. You never see anyone w/ Maryland plates running w/o a front plate, and there's a very good reason for that.
Sure, you can just pay the fine, but it's kinda "inconvenient" to keep getting pulled over frequently.
I am in a state that requires a front plate. I got one of the first 2014 Verts. I have been driving now for 3 years with no front plate without a problem. If I every do get a ticket I will pay it and keep driving with no front plate.

Reason: Spelling
Just acquired an '01 C5. Previous owner is from Michigan and they don't require front plates, but Ohio (my state) does. I like it just the way it is!
How have others dealt with this problem?
Have a new easy on easy off in seconds front plate bracket
just clips on C7 grille (non Z06) from major vendor
does not touch paint or facia at any point
I use it as a bargaining chip. 'can't you just write me a ticket for the front plate and the seat belt'? 'I had it in storage and you are right it is too fast now!
I took my front plate off a little over a year ago- I also had a powered Show N Go on a mustang a few years ago. I have never been stopped for speeding (I generally drive at about the limit), but also have not been stopped for the lack of a front plate. I expect that I would be stopped for something else, then the plate violation would be an add-on.
I carry it in the back (like that would make a difference anyway). My plan: "Officer, if I had a beautiful face like this 'Vette, I could never hang a license plate from my nose either." And if he tickets me- pay the fine, then decide. So far, even if I had to pay an extra $ 125 or so a year in fines, I would do it.
Regarding the Show N Go- mine failed within a few months- the cable became a birds nest. I e-mailed the company, and the online distributor about it- never heard from either of them. Show N Go was a waste of (I think) $ 140 as far as I'm concerned.
Front license plate on a Vette?
Only a totalitarian, communistic, dictatorship of a govt. would enforce such a thing on the American people.
You're gonna have to shoot me first...
The front plate is for the cops. They can catch more evil doers on average. That's the reason they gave in NY. Same with tint. I'm entering new legislation with my congressman to have people stay home and stare out the window so less crimes in general will happen.
I just gave in after my last ticket at a Cars and coffee event here in Dallas. Here you have guys coming out sideways, exhibiting speed, revving going past the Police, and I get pulled over for no FLP....? I just fabbed mine up...
and NO I didn't drill into my front fascia..
Took my clear front plate cover and sanded, painted, and clear coated about five times then used blue painters tape to out line and spray the chevy emblem on it in red. Easy and cost effective front cover.
MY FRONT PLATE IS UNDER THE COVER.
If I would have bought a new one the old one would have been tossed. Front plates are required here in MN but I have not ran one for over three years now.
