Default C5 Front bumper lip splitter

I am contemplating putting a ZR1 Style front bumper splitter on my C5, does anyone know if or how much it will interfere with the cooling ?

Too much unless you compensate elsewhere for airflow to the radiator. That splitter was designed for the C6 platform.

I thought about adding a splitter a few years ago, however decided against it as my C5 is already pretty low so I just had some custom paint work in the front to match up with my painted lower rear fascia and convertible deck lid.

The C5 is a bottom breather so you need to install a splitter that takes that into effect. There used to be some aftermarket options out there, however I'm not sure if they are still available.

I have the Apsis splitter. Had it for five years and no cooling issues on-track or on the street. It is specifically designed for the C5 and is opened where the radiator feeds in air.

im lowered pretty good and I have zero cooling issues.

Just make sure your lower air dam is in place and you should be fine.

Very important tip, you'll remove the two side rubber air damn pieces, but you have leave the center one that's on the spring. Mean looking C5 too.

I had that same lip and I'm not lowered as much. Had higher temps around town and highway it redlined after only 10 mins of driving. My center air dam was still installed but trimmed about an inch shorter than stock (to prevent scraping in my driveway apron).

Thought it was blocked radiator, or other issues. But as soon as that lip came off, all back to normal. Maybe if I had a full center air dam it would have been fine, but it made me too nervous to take it anywhere far. Much happier now.

I like the Apsis style, but it appears to hang lower and not sure it would clear my driveway. The old one did not without raising the car resulting in ugly wheel well gap. I'm better off without it, but OP good luck in your search and decision.

yeah the trimming job you did caused the higher temps IMO...

never under stood why you'd want to trim that air damn, they were made to scrape hence the loaded spring it has on each end.... its a pretty flexible material but like anything after time it will wear out and need to be replaced.

I had to trim it to make it in/out my driveway if I wanted to enjoy a lowered vehicle. Even trimmed and not slammed I still scrape a bit. No adverse effects on cooling, but works for my situation.

I have the Vortex lip and it's similar to the Apsis lip in that there's a center channel to allow air to flow directly to the radiator as originally intended. As a matter of fact I saw a slight decrease in temps because it's almost a straight shot to the rubber damn which is simply forcing air into the radiator.

I also have the Vortex; lost the side dams and trimmed the center dam 3/4" with no cooling issues whatsoever. It's the slimmest splitter that has a center vent, AFAIK.

My seats are Recaros out of a Lancer Evolution. Here's a link to my original post about them. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...installed.html
