I came across an amazing deal for brand new FAST 102 w/102 Big Mouth TB and FAST fuel rails. My Z is 100% stock, but the deal is honestly too good to pass up (under $1000 and local) plus I know it will benefit me greatly once the car has a nice cam and good heads on it. Plan is to buy it and send it to get ported and order up the boltons. My questions are:
1. Will there be any gain at all with this setup on a bolt on car?
2. Is there any downsides to having the 102 setup on the car without heads/cam? Tuning/Driveability issues?
3. Can I get away with a mail in tune for the FAST combo and bolt ons?
I've searched quite a bit and can't seem to find much on the subject of the FAST 102 on a bolt on car, so I'm just assuming it's not popular due to the cost per HP at the stock engine level. I know that my stock injectors will need spacers to work with the FAST 102, I was also considering getting new injectors for when I go with the cam in the future. Also, I don't think the Big Mouth works on the Z's, right? I would need to sell it and pick up a NW 102?
Any info on the topic would be helpful, I am new to the LS.
I have a 102/NW 102 on my bolt on C5Z right now. I had some issues on the dyno so I can't give you any numbers. I figured out what was wrong and the car goes back to the tuner soon. It's a complet animal. Throttle response is amazing with the NW. It actually ran good on the stock tune. I wouldn't recommend going WOT on stock tune but it will drive fine.
You can't use the cable driven TB on a corvette.
A mail order tune is fine. I would rather have a dyno tune but if you don't have that option you will be fine.
It's absolutely worth it to go the 102 on a bolt on car. Especially if you have Mamo port it. Don't listen to the sheep saying it's too big and you'll lose power. You won't. Once you sell your old intake and throttle body you will be sitting pretty lol.

It will be dyno tuned, but I want to wait until the cam goes in to take it to get a proper dyno tune. I would have it ported, and was considering Mamo to do it. I hear you on the people saying that you would lose power, but every thread I've seen usually has a knowledgeable vendor jump in and debunk that myth.
Well, nice to know that the 102 would actually be useful on a bolt on car. If you ever get the car back on the dyno with the bolt ons and FAST, post up some numbers.
My car came with the Fast 102 / NW 102 combo. The previous owner reported that it makes 408 rwhp. I have not verified that number but it 'feels' faster than other C5Zs I test drove.

Assuming it also came with the other bolt ons? That's nice, 400+ with bolt ons is pretty sweet. I'd like to be right in that range 400-410whp.
