Last March I picked up an 04 C5 convertible in Med Spiral Gray. A nice understated color for an aging senior. Sure is different than the C3 I had back in the day. Performance-wise it does pretty much what I need. Love the car, but have always liked commemorative stripes. I'm thinking of having a stick on stripe kit put on, but have a few questions. Your help would be appreciated.
1) If you have done the same, how'd it work out?
2) I've looked at the Vette Stripes.com commemorative product on line. Looks pretty good to me. Is this a quality product line? Other brands better?
3) With Med Spiral Gray I can see going with a, dark charcoal or black. Antony other recs for colors? How about Matt vs gloss?
4) Is this a self install, window tint guys or body shop?
5) Have you seen problems with bubbles, edge chipping or cracking?

THE VENDOR Vette Stripes.com is well known here, and has quality products. Many have made this a DIY project. Only your own ability can decide whether or not you can do this. Others have done it themself. ON a scale of 1 to 10 for a DIYer.. this is an 8 or 9... Of course this is an easy job for a professional who has applied this type of stripe many times.
it has to be laid out properly, proper solution and tools, etc. Vette Stripes can help you with a tutorial and the tools you need.
I don't think it will distract from the design because GM did a good job with the factory stripe design and colors.
Good Luck, do the research, decide if you are capable, seek professional estimates for install, and make an educated decision.

I agree with E-T, Vette Stripes has a good reputation here. I had some fender stripes from them and they were top notch. With my skills, I would probably have someone install it for me (like a local, trusted sign shop) but you may have the skills necessary to do the job.
As for colors, a good combo with medium spiral gray might be something like silver for the large stripe with red for the smaller outside stripe. I like bolder colors, you may not.

This will probably be a one-off project for me. I usually like learning new skills, but I doubt I'll do another car. So, I think I'll find a shop to install so it's done right. As for colors I'm thinking silver with a red or black outline. Time will tell. Thanks

A good friend of mine has a black coupe with a silver stripe outlined in white. It's beautiful. If you were to tackle it yourself, I strongly recommend practicing with similar material. I've taught myself vinyl wrap and hydrodipping on a minor scale and as easy as the pros make it look, there's lots of mistakes on the way.
Welcome to the forum, I can only echo what the other very accomplished guys here have already stated. Love our c5's!
