Default Problem 1: fixed.

So I bought a C5 the other day and it has a few minor issues. Today, I had the first one fixed.

After looking at a few YouTube vids, I brought the car to my cousin who works in a local repair shop. I showed him a video of a guy changing out the oil pressure sending unit without removing the intake manifold or cutting the part under the wiper assembly.

He got to work and an hour later the job was done and the problem is fixed.

The part was $53 and the shop charged my $73 in labor.

This is a job I would've done myself if the weather wasn't so shitty. I don't have a garage (but the car is kept under a car port).

So for $126 I have the peace of mind knowing what my oil pressure is. Next I'll have to diagnose the AC and cruise control issues.

Here is a link to the YouTube video that will show you how to do it:

I'm loving this car so far. It makes me miss my C4 a bit less.

Nice! I need mine replaced, but I won't try it myself. A buddy has a shop and he quoted me about twice that amount, but that's removing the intake.

It's in a tight spot and it definitely took some fiddling around but it can be done in an hour or less without removing the manifold.

Show your buddy the video and maybe he can do better on the price.

Nice work. I can't decide if I want to do mine myself and swap out the intake for something cooler or try to do it in place. Mines been dead almost a year now.

I debated on whether to do this or not but I figured there's no way to know if you lose oil pressure until it's too late. So I figured better safe than sorry.

He runs a shop...the more he can charge, the better for him. He won't be interested in shorter time!

Default Good to have a competent resource

Glad you have a go too guy. The C5 is head and shoulders above the C4, and your C4 will quickly become a distant memory.

lol basically.

Proper tools makes the job doable. Couple of key tools include forceps, swiveling extension, long flat head, flashlight and patience.

Yeah, I wasn't thrilled about the idea of hacking up the car. This is definitely the way to go.

Here's the link. I also added it to the original post.

Thanks for posting that video link. I've saved it for when I end up having to replace my OPS unit.

FWIW, my cruise control would shut off from time to time. the fix was a new 'steering position sensor.'

I pulled the intake to replace mine. Pretty simple actually. There are a few good write ups floating around.

looks like puling the intake, while taking longer, may be far less tedious and frustrating.
