Default Oxygen Sensors

I am a new owner (c5, 2004) and want to know how difficult it will be to change the O2 sensors and what brand should I buy besides the manufactures'.

How difficult is it??? A neurosurgeon once told me brain surgery is easy if you know what you are doing. A True story. I spinet a lot of time in the hospital.

Why not OEM, AC Delco they are the best out there... Many Many C5's with original OEM O2 sensors even after 18 years. Like Mine. and I have over 100K on my car

they are easy to remove, there is a slotted socket used to remove them . You can get by without one but it makes removal easy.

The only brands I would buy would be Denso or Ac Delco. The Delco ones are actually Denso's in a Delco box. Usually you can pick up the Denso ones a little cheaper. Stay away from that junk like Bosch.

I got the code for the passenger side sensor about a week ago, weather has been getting, well cold for here. It looks like a massive pain, and I was wondering if you'd suggest just picking up a sensor and going to a dealership/chevy mechanic? I have access to a shop and I'm used to working on cars, but the position and fittings have me a bit intimidated, so any input would be greatly appreciated

I changed all my sensors a while back, after getting the code.
It's not difficult with the car up on jackstands.

I got the AC Delco's. Likely any parts place has them. Or, on line.

I bought this wrench (22mm) made for Ox sensors, and it made the job very easy to get a good grip, and lossen them. I've now used that wrench on one of my other cars Oxygen sensors as well.

I already had a Oxygen Sensor socket. Got this wrench out of curiosity. So glad I did, it's easier to use from almost any angle, than a socket & ratchet. But, either will work...

I'll take a look at those, thanks! I'd rather spend a teeny bit of money and do it myself.

You don't need the dealership to do this. Any shop can do it. Its an hour labor charge, depending on the shop 80 to 100 dollars an hour.
Its an Easy DIY project if the weather permits, or you have a garage .
just a single plug, a few frame clips and the sensor.

Default Oxygen Sensors

First of all, thank you Evil- Twin for your advice. I have worked on my previous cars and replaced the o 2 sensor, but this Corvette have intimidated me somewhat. It looks like there is little space to get your hand in there and need a smaller socket. Will give it a try and thank you once more.

A hint..

the O2 sensors are not all the same, there is a left and right, wire length difference
a photo of the OEM bag and the Part # will help, anyone needing a specific O2 sensor.

I need an OEM O2 sensor and am willing to pay the postage, not familiar with how we do private communication from here.

Actually, based on many of the Doctors I have known, surgery is fairly easy even if you don't know what you are doing! (Results may vary)
