So come spring after the weather warms up Im going to be selling my 2014 S4, and want to get another Corvette. Had a 1992 back in the day, but been a long time since I had one.
How is the C5 for a daily driver? And is there anything I should be looking for/at when looking at C5's
Im probably looking to spend about $15k, and seems like I should be able to get a 99-00 in that range if I keep a look out for a bit.

Any advice on this would be great.
read the sticky threads, thats what I did, tons of useful info
I thought it would be well mannered and comfortable enough for a DD. Im not sure I could go back to a C4 for a DD, but any of the newer ones sound like they should be good to drive.
The main thing I will need to look for is an automatic. I really dont feel like sitting on the clutch for an hour + every day coming to work. Since it is 35 miles of solid bumper to bumper traffic.
Which sucks bc it takes out a good portion of the nice cars
Need to wait until spring. Not selling my AWD car for a corvette in the middle of winter. lol
But I will travel to get it if needs be. I have bought cars in the past all over the country and either flown out and driven back, or just had it shipped
The guy that stated "read the stickies" is right on. Please read those. As a previous C4 owner, the entry and ride of the C5 is night and day of the C4.
All great suggestions here...nothing much for me to add. I will say though that my C5 is a daily driver (except in snow) and I absolutely love it. Even when I'm just putting-along at 30-35mph (my work commute), I'm thoroughly enjoying the experience.
Then be patient in your search. The right car will be just that - right for you. Decide what options you want on the car, what color combo you want, mileage your willing to accept, etc. Don't be afraid to travel a distance to get the car you want.
I don't see why you'd be the least bit unhappy with a C5 as your DD.
Other than snow days, I drive my '99 allllll the time. My wife and I do 3000+ mile road trips every summer. It's comfortable even with the much maligned stock seats (we do 8-9 hours driving travel day). With the mostly stock LS1, it was even an economy car. I got 32MPG on a 4000 mile trip, cruising at 80-ish. On a 3200 mile trip, spending most of the day at about 100, I still managed 28MPG.
With the new LS3, I'm only seeing 21-22MPG, but you don't get 700+ RWHP without some tradeoffs.
Awesome this is what I wanted to hear. Slowly starting to look, just cant pull the trigger until atleast the end of Feb, b/c I need to be able to get to work if it snows.

I know ill get flamed for this....
But you're wanting to sell a basically "luxury" car for a 20 year old GM rattle box?
Have you driven a C5? Compared to an AUDI S4...IMO you'll be very disappointed from a daily driver perspective....
I have daily driven a C5 for the last 6 years....and in OCT i purchased a 14 S5 6 speed.....I gotta be honest man, i was missing out...Sure its not as "Fast" as the C5..but it sure feels like great luxury car that i LOVE daily driving.
Now lets get this clear...im not saying the C5 is TERRIBLE to DD, but compared to an AUDI for DD purposes...apples to oranges...there is juts no comparison as far as comfort and practicality...
American Forums are and will always be the most biased places to ask questions like this....go test drive some C5's you're interested in...
Can you daily drive a C5? Yes, but you can daily anything if you want it bad enough.
