Trying to find out if column lock fix has been applied to my recently purchased 2000. With key out steering wheel does not lock. So I checked under passenger floor board, doesn't look like popular lock fix has been installed. After turning car off and removing key I do hear something happening in the steering column like something running for a split second. Can I assume that the lock plate has been removed or should I go ahead and install lock fix under passenger floor board??

If you hear the electric lock when it's turned off but wheel doesn't lock then some type of bypass / fix has been installed.
I believe my 2004 Z06 has some sort of deactivate device since the column is not locked with the key out, but every so often I see the 1-2 upshift light on my dash. Shouldn't that go away as well?

Do you mean the 1-4 skip shift light maybe instead ? The column lock and skip shift aren't related.

100% Even if the Skip Shift is bypassed or tuned out, you still get the light on the IPC. I call it a badge of accomplishment.
Just because your steering wheel doesnt lock, doed NOT make you safe from a column lock related issue. If the column lock system only has the dealer installed FIX,,, One day you will get into your car, start it up and go to leave and once the car moves, the engine will SHUT DOWN on the new dealer installed 2 MPH column lock fuel safety cut off....
You must install a proper column lock bypass to be free.
