Default Damn rain

Well, my car runs perfectly. Except when it rains. She sputters and almost stalls when giving moderate throttle and starts harder. I also threw about 14 codes for miscellaneous things the other day. I'm sure there is a bad connector or bare wire somewhere. Damn it. I'll post the codes later, but they are all over the board and probably won't help diagnosis much. Tracking these electrical gremlins can be tedious work. If I lose my patience, I might have to take a C7 out for a test drive and see what all the fuss is about lol

The PCM is located in the passenger side fender where the door and fender area meet. It is actually not uncommon for moisture and water to get in there if say you are not aware of if that area is still completely "sealed" from elements. The PCM controls a lot of driving functions of your vehicle, and most of what you're describing is resultant of moisture issues (it's similar to the old C5 battery issues when initially they could drop battery acid into this area and damage the PCM and it's wiring).

Personally I would remove the passenger fender and see if the PCM and it's connectors are still sealed.

I would also make sure that the udders are clear. Have you checked the fuse box in the passenger footwell to make sure it's dry.

Two good suggestions above. If this is only happening when it rains, some electrical connection(s) are probably getting wet.

So it's really true. You can't take them out in the rain.

Okay this may not be a contributor but if you an airaid filter or similar you could be getting water in the intake when you drive. If that's the case a hood seal will fix it. How do I know, it happened to me. Just a guess, don't know your setup.

I know this doesn't help, but just be thankful you don't live in Vancouver!

The answer is probably in the codes. If you get a "sputtering", you would probably throw a code. Post them...

Did you check the bcm to make sure it's dry? In the passenger foot well?

I didn't feel any moisture on the floor at all. Someone mentioned an airaid filter a few posts back, which I have. Maybe water got on my MAF? I'm willing to put some more money into her, but at a certain point it won't make financial sense to me. I wasn't driving through puddles which pisses me off. I love the style of the C5, but not sure I made the right choice when buying my dad's 17 year old car about 4 months ago. I'll have some cash to blow later this year. Just not sure if I want to go all the way with the old girl now, or just say f it and buy a new one. I'm going away for the weekend, and dropping her off at a shop tomorrow to see what's up and put some new miscellaneous stuff on her. I'll report back with the findings for posterity. All comments and insight are appreciated.

When was the last time the filter was cleaned? It could have been over oiled and causing a problem.

I want to say thank you to Zigzag. Shop said they couldn't find a problem. So I opened the hood with the owner and my Airaid filter had vibrated loose apparently and wasn't sealed tight on one side. They were closing so I told him I'd Fix it myself. Bought a hood seal too for insurance. Looks like it was install error on my part with the Airaid. What a dum dum.

Went out and got a new Intake today. Airaid just wouldn't seal tight. Put it on, put on the new hood seal, and she purrs like a kitten again. Thanks zigzag
