I am assuming you have the stock C5 exhaust. The attached link is for the polished OEM tips. They slip over the stock tips and are secured with three clips and screws (the pictures will show the locations). They are not “round” but oblong.

If you truly want round tips and chrome, I am not sure how you can accomplish that without cutting off the stock tips and welding or using band clamps to put the replacements on.

You're probably going to have to have the ovals cut out to do what you want as they're REALLY large at their extreme points and an exhaust shop likely won't have a chrome tip that large (or if they do, they're going to charge you an arm and a leg for it, especially since you'll need four). Any competent exhaust shop can cut off the oval tips and install rounded tips. The oval tips themselves are actually welded to the round exhaust pipe (if you look inside, you can see the barrel of the exhaust itself). With the ovals cut off I believe - IIRC - that the exhaust tips themselves are a bit under 2.5" diameter, which would open plenty of options rather than dealing with a + 4" tip.

I put a set on my '99. They're just the "slip on" tips (Corsa) like posted above. I bought them from a member here. They have the clips as mentioned, and a set screw.

Corsa tips installed

100% better

FYI, they may be for sale soon. I'm in the process of trying to buy an axle back exhaust. When I do, I won't need these anymore.

Default My thoughts

First of all you do not want chrome. You want polished stainless. Chrome will only rust and pit over time. The " tips " in the Ebay link are used, and non returnable..you will note, the seller strategically did not show the rear of the tip... because they were originally welded, and cut off. . They would have to be welded back on.. and you would need a specific fixture to lock all four tips in alignment before welding, so that they could cool without distortion.

You are asking for trouble doing this without a fixture. Buying these tips for 165 dollars and having some one weld them on the car would be pure crap.

Putting tips over your existing tips would look like someone wearing two hats, one over the other.

To do it tight, you would have to remove your stock mufflers, take them to a shop, have them cut off , and the new ones welded on. With absolutly no guarantee of alignment unless the shop built a welding gig...this would cost 200 / 300 dollars.plus the tips..A 500 dollar expense for tips done properly
I would take that 500 and put it towards a cat back system. CORSA ..preferably.
Don't try to do this "cheap"...you will regret it, and you will be throwing your money away...

FWIW, the tips in the link above are not OEM as the seller posted. They are the same tips I have (with the alignment clips and set screws to hold them against the OEM oval tips). Strictly for cosmetics, I think they do just fine. I hated the small, black oval tips and opted for these as a temp fix. I was worried at first about how'd they look, but once I installed them, I was happy. Granted, it's not show car quality, but I only needed to make ME happy.

Just to be clear, the link I posted is NOT mine, and I posted it only as representative of what the OP could find.

Have not seen this suggestion here: just get a set of the TiZ06 mufflers. They are an excellent muffler. and they have the round trips.
