2004 CE convertible - I've changed oil many times but yesterday when I got oil and filter at AZ the filter they sold me was a Mobil 1 M1-107. Its much shorter than the filters I have used in the past but AZ dude insisted that is correct filter. According to my records I've been using M1-206. So the question is, what is the correct filter?
Ditch the Mobil 1 oil filters. Go to Napa and buy their name brand which is made by Wix Filters. Wix is far and away the best on the market. I use my 'free' Mobil 1 filters when I buy oil change specials for vehicles I winterize like boats. (The Mobil 1 filter stays on only for the winter.)

Is that your opinion or do you have and data to back it up. A Ford mechanic I know claims Motorcraft are the best by far and a GM mechanic I know claims AC/Delco are the best by far. Who do I believe?
I do use Delco in my GM vehicles and Motorcraft in my Ford. Never had a filter problem in 45 years.
The lsx engine was designed for longevity. An upgraded oil system, oil life monitor system Mobil 1 and an Ac Delco filter. The lsx was certified for 200. 000 miles. Before launch. This was a mandate by Dave Hill. It's the first engine designed to go 200,000 miles in testing. Been torn down and in non Distructive testing was certified that every rotating mass was within design tolerance. It's the first 200,000 mile benchmark in the industry.. prior industry standard was 100,000 miles. In the 70's it was 60,000 miles.
Proof is the hundreds of 200k 300k and 400 members who posted in a thread here a while back, and the countless Pm's I get from happy members who have following my advice. And report no internal issues..
I use Mobil 1, an Ac Delco filter and follow the OLM. or 1 year which ever comes first.. these recommendations come from world class engineers, with multi million dollar test ifacilities. There is a reason why the Lsx motor is the choice of professional builders world wide.. Of course modifications to the original design without extensive testing does not apply.

Everyone has an opinion here.
But my preference comes from the research and banter that has gone around and around on the boating forums I belong too. Over the years I have seen quite a few studies that all end up with the Wix with a slight edge over the Mobil1 based on flow performance and micron filtration size. It's been a while since I've read one, but there is plenty of info out there on the Internet.
Personally, I prefer the synthetic media to paper media, as the paper media is more susceptible to breakdown due to moisture in the oil, especially on vehicles that are not started/driven often. This is more of a problem on vehicles that have inverted oil filters, and as such anti-drainback valves are also of importance here as well. Regardless, for those of us that do not drive our Corvettes regularly, H20/Condensation in the oil system does have the potential to develop. The last few Mobil1 fiters that I have cut open and inspected personally have all been paper media. This has been at least a year since I have done so, so there could be changes/updates.

Just an example. A Valvoline VO58 oil filter would go on a C5. A VO108 would go on the same year's model Trailblazer with the 4.2.
The filters spec's are the same. One just has slightly more capacity.
I'm not sure on the Mobil filters but it might be the case.

Bill, Which A/c Delco filter is the correct one for the C5? I find the following listed, PF 44, UPF 44, PF 46, and PF 46E. Which is best and what is the difference?
Hope you are doing well.
