Just had her professionally tinted. The tint guy said the matrix is too thick at the top of the rear window. He even tried using Elmer glue under the tint at the matrix to fill the gaps. Anyone else have this problem?
JUst had mine done this past weekend and looks the same. They said give it until this weekend to see if it drys and attaches better. But feel I will be going back to see what they can do
Yea, that's the solution he came up with, have someone put black vinyl over the matrix and overlap tint. Was just curious if this was an issue with others. Thanks!
I had the same thing for 12 years on my Z06. Dot-matrix separating...
Numerous "high-end" tint shops told me this and that...nobody would guarantee the work.
Took it to a place I've been using in Thousand Oaks, CA for other cars.
1st Try..perfect and guaranteed for life.
Just find a good shop. They'll do a bit of sanding to rough it up, but if it's possible at least for a FRC.
Also, to do the vinyl on the inside, did you have to sand the matrix down as well? I get that if I sand down the matrix that the tint would stick. But for obvious reasons, the less time spent twisted over the seat to access the inside window the better LOL
Thanks in advance
I spoke to my shop this week after having the 35% tint done a couple weeks back, and its pulling up around the matrix. He gave 3 options. fist was to just deal with it, 2nd was to cut the top of the tint off and just have the matrix there, and 3rd was the vinyl. But he said with the vinyl since I did 35% it will not match up in color to the black vinyl.
So Im not sure what I want to do. I know Im not cutting the tint and leaving just the matrix to me thats not an option. So its between leaving it where its a bit clouded at the top and putting vinyl that wont quite match.
