My 2004 has a glare off dash onto the windshield and I was wondering if anyone has a cure?
I was told to tint the rear window I just don't think that will make a difference ...
Clean the dash with something that will take off what every was put on. Normally it not the dash material that is shining. I don't like telling people what to use. Something that is a mild cleaner.
I had the same issue. I purchased a dash cover from Mid America and it works great for me. Protects the dash from the sun and stops the glare. I just remove it for car shows or other events. Several of the Corvette after market companies carry them and they are designed to fit the C5.
we have the same problem and it times can hardly see out the windshield . asked this same question and bought the recommended cleaner and it did NOTHING , that is ZERO!!!! , to help . . . peace
When I got my car it seems the dealer polished all the dash and leather with Amorall or something similar. It looked great, but way too shiny. I got a black dash cover and that rug-like surface cut way down on the glare, also keeps some of the Florida sun and heat off the dash, altho I did cut out and add a layer of foil bubble insulation beneath that to cut down the dash temps even more. Unless you change the reflectivity of the surface, there is nothing you can do the cut the reflective glare onto the windshield.
JR!!! you are right on. I have tried a number of remedies and none worked.
I tried the dash mat and although it helped, I did not like it in my convertible.

I always drive with sunglasses in daytime so the glare has never been a problem and it's easier on my eyes.
Avoid using the glossy armorall stuff on the dash there is low shine versions of vinyl moisturizer. The Border around my HUD is wrapped in CF and it was reflecting very bad this morning against the windshield.
Winter time is bad for sun reflecting which makes me question why stores mostly only sell sun glasses in the summer.

Before you go too far, try using a moist rag with some mild dishwashing soap and wipe the dash down to remove any protectant (like Armor All) that may be on the dash. Then follow through with just a moist cloth to get any soap residue off and then use a dry cloth to get any moisture off.
I have never used anything oily on my dash and there is no glare as a result.
Worth a try and doesn't cost much (just the price of the soap).

They do have a tendency to take off at faster speeds unless you velcro them down and that creates a mess when it gets hot in the summer. You have a bunch of sticky blobs on the dash when you remove it.
This is the only surefire way to cure your problem. It is 100% effective though.
I had the same problem in my C4.
Here's a comparison shot with my phone with and without polarized sunglasses.
After getting advice from my eye doctor many many years ago, I have gotten into the habit of always wearing sunglasses outdoors. Best way to avoid cataracts and other eye problems later in life. It also makes driving 10 hour road trips more bearable.

just remember not to do this in direct sunlight or when the dash is hot.
