My fuel pump is making a high pitch sound. Sort of like an old water faucet. It is not real loud but and annoying pitch.
I read in old post that this is normal for many GM pumps.
Any one have luck suppressing the sound aside from using 200lb of Dynamat? Like just a little around the tank.
How common is this issue? It's a 2002.
The truth is you need to here that wine ,when you can't here it anymore ,them you got problems .. Get some louder mufflers turn up the tunes .. My 04 ,little story after taking both tanks out 2 times ea. yes two times each and them bringing it to the shop $1300.00 later to find out I had a NEW BAD pump Two of them .I love to here the wine in the morning.. The wine is good..
I would be rejoicing if the fuel pump was making a wine.
But it's making a whine!
Can't tell you how common it is, but my 2004 whines too. It seems like it's mostly noticeable when the tank gets below 1/4, so I just try to keep it above that. I ran some Techron through it last year, and I swear it was a little quieter before the next fill up, but that was probably just my imagination. I'm sure most cars make the same noise, but very few have the gas tank right behind the drivers ***, so you never hear it. Even my FI motorcycles have loud pumps, until the engine starts and the exhaust drowns it out.
You're right though, it's not that loud, but it's at just the right frequency to be annoying. I have terrible hearing, and can still hear it. (Damn you tinnitus! )

Whine in a 2004? I never ever hear my fuel pump make any noise in my 2004 over the 3 years of ownership. Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought the fuel pump whine was an issue in the earlier C5 models, i.e. before 2003.

I don't here my pump in my 04 either but I can here my buddy's pump in his 98 ???
Change the filter could be stopped up a little that will make the pump work harder and wine more trying to pump gas through the filter.. and the pump over time will burn out and bam no wine and no pump or might be going bad .Need to check pressure may be going south .. One of the first sings of going bad is getting a little loud.. After you change the filter and check pressure and al is good ,just drive it ..
Is it just me or is the spelling on this thread really bad.
I have been working on Corvettes for 50 years just trying to help with a pump deal , if you want good grammar maybe you should ask a school teacher to help fix a Corvette .. just SAYING..
