I don't think I've ever heard anybody talk about shift kits here. maybe someone will chime in. I thought shift kits were old school. Before all the electronics.
Just don't want to hurt the transmission by having it upgraded. Was looking for opinions on the subject,he's talking transgo kit.
The tune does a different job than shift kit, if I remember correctly the kit allows quicker completion of shifts not just firmer which I think is less wear but I'm no expert. I know RPM uses a kit in their rebuilds so I would think it helps.
That being said there is no telling when an auto will finally go......but be sure it will especially if you like the feel of downshifts.
If you ask in tech you may get more complete responses

So as mentioned before are Down shifts felt as hard, as the hard up shifts?during hard acceleration.?
I can't answer that....sorry, as I did not get a shift kit on factory set up, I got it with the RPM trans, which was after a new motor and supercharger took out factory transmission.
The tech section would be a better place for answers on this IMO.
The shift kit will firm up the shifts and a tune will allow lower part throttle downshifts instead of the EPA economy setup the car comes with, Transgo for the shift kit and software such as HP Tuners. There are transmission tunes to download on the HP Tuners website.
