Default Tires again

Are there any opinions on the relative merits of the Continental Extreme Contact DSW compared to the DSW06 ?

Some of the major suppliers sell one or the other but not many sell both.

Thanks, Bob

I have had both on the same car and noticed no difference, however I think both are excellent tires. Excellent in rain and the occasional light snow (they're not on my Vette).

Another for the Continental Extreme Contact DSW.
Great overall tire, no complaints.

The DWS06 is a newer design and from my understanding a replacement for the DWS. If you order DWS tires, check the date codes!!!

I ordered a set of DWS last year and they had 2013 and 2014 manufacturer dates. Ordered the DWS06 and they were 6 months old.

My dd is a Subaru Legacy. On the Subie forum they rave about the DSW's.

No complaints about the DWS06 that I have as my front tires. Rears are DW. Plows straight through puddles without hydroplaning.

Thanks for the vote of confidence to you all. I ordered DSW's for the rear of my car today. Dealer told me the DWS06 are made with a little firmer rubber but the treads are identical. Looking forward to getting rid of the bald Michelin's. Just in time for spring .

Stopped in to the tire dealer today. You guys spooked me on buying
"old" stock. Since there aren't many of the DSW's left I was afraid the ones I ordered could be ancient. As it turns out they are dated 03/15 ! I had mentally decided I would not accept them if they were 2014 or older.

At 3000 miles a year they should wear out and age out about the same time. Anybody think they are too old ?? Bob

Reputable tire dealers should be storing tires in climate controlled buildings to fight degradation of the tires. 2 years in a climate controlled building is probably equivalent to 2 months on the car in the environment (totally making up these numbers). You should be completely fine.

What kind of driving do you do? If you're relatively easy on them, they will not wear out before aging out. I put 56,000 miles on mine while driving mostly highway but also played quite a bit.

I have to admit I am a very conservative driver, mostly cruising. No autocross, no track, and really drive it like a Buick. An occasional quick start because I like the acceleration but on the highway a modest "10 over". (Maybe I should buy a Buick ?)

Nah. My Corvette is a daily driver, and I rarely let the engine get above 1800 RPM. However, there are times I just want to smoke people (normally idiots that don't know how to drive), and I do like taking turns at high speed (also saves the brakes). And it is really fuel efficient for the amount of power it has, and I have put things into the Corvette that don't fit in my sister's Avalon

I just bought the DWS 06's for my Malibu. I was running 8yr old factory tires and OMG the difference is amazing. The car previously would spin the tires on wet or dry pavement when starting off and accelerating quickly. Now they don't. They handle 100x better in all conditions and if I ever replace the vette's tires I think I may go with them. I am shocked (though I know I shouldn't be) how much a tire makes a difference on the driving experience.

I've been running the Continental Extreme Contact DSW06 for about a year and a half now replacing Goodyear run-flats. These tires are great. Quiet on the highway but plenty of traction in wet and dry conditions. I'd buy them again without hesitation. My Vette is a red 99' Vert.
