So the Z06 factory carpet is not what I would call plush and luxurious, but thin and uncarpet like, I am guessing for weight considerations. Has anyone replaced this carpet in the whole interior with an aftermarket carpet? I see a lot of variance in pricing and was wondering what might be a good selection to upgrade the interior carpet quality.
There was a picture posted a few years ago where a C5 Z06 owner swapped out his interior carpet for a beautiful plush Mercedes ash gray carpet that looked fantastic. He worked with a pro auto upholster shop who ordered and cut the carpet.
Spot on quality
A bunch of different materials/colors
They have Truvette carpets
Pretty darn cheap
I actually stumbled upon their website and I think someone else on here mentioned them as being a good source. I guess the thing to do would be to order a sample from a few different places to see what actual quality is really like. I have seen complete interior carpet packages for $300 all the way up to $900. Some have a massback and some don't. I already have the entire interior under the carpet sound deadened so do I need massback? Anyways thanks for the responses so far!
Depends. Do you give a s%i# about weight? If not, get the mass backing. I have used stockinteriors for several restorations. They nake everything from dirt cheap, to holy crap expensive, and they are very consistent. I'm actually buying Truvette torch red carpets from them for my C5

I have the black/torch red interior and was thinking of changing the black carpet to red myself. If you do this in the near future, please post your results. I may still look at getting carpet sample before ordering and no, weight is not a consideration for me at all. I just enjoy spirited driving and with the blower on my Z, I have gobs of power. I am working on achieving the correct look on the outside and in, and the stock Z06 carpet is brutal, IMO.
Yeah, mine is thin, and sheds under the heal of my wifes shoes I want something a little flashier tjan ALL black. I will be getting it in the summer, I will take pics on install

I was just looking at the stock interior website and the truvette sample in torch red looks really good and for a little over $500 you can get the massback in truvette. Looks like a great way to go. Thanks for the heads up! If I beat you to the install, there will be pics coming from me also.
I've used https://www.accmats.com/ before when I replaced the carpet in my foxbody a few years back. Quality was top notch and was a perfect fit. I haven't looked into the pricing of their Vette carpet though.

I checked out this website and it also looks like good carpet but for vettes it's SPENDY!
I'm most decidedly not a rubber mat fan. If anything I will use stock style carpet ones....but they weigh too much to be in my car. I don't see any inclement weather, so I won't spare the weight.

Forged, one piece monoblocks are the lightest type of wheels available, and I lost 7lbs of rotating mass on the back axle alone going with those wheels. The general consensus is that every 1 lb of rotational weight you remove, is the equivalent of losing anywhere from 5-10 lbs of static weight. Somewhere along the line you can calculate that 120-150 lbs of static weight will be identical in performance to 15-20 BHP gain.
Let's just assume the front wheels lost just as much weight (it was actually a little more, but I'm not pulling my wheels to put them on a bathroom scale lol) so 14lbs in rotating mass. 14lbs rotating mass will be worth 70lbs AT MINIMUM of static mass, and could even be 100lbs static mass, or possibly as much as 140lbs! It is actually one of the best mods you can do to relieve unsprung weight, and rotational mass.
The next thing on my list is fixed back seats (about 40 lbs savings), and then I'm replacing thd hatch glass with a lexan piece (about 35 lbs savings). I already have a lightweight battery, long tubes with no cats, my forged monoblocks as discussed above, and a Ti catback, so I would say I'm pretty serious about removing the few big pork items these cars actually have.
I bought some plush home carpet at Home Depot and cut and stitched it myself. I did not do the front because it is mostly covered up with plush aftermarket floor mats...

First I doubt you lost weight vs. stock Z wheels by going larger in rim and tire. Second, you're explaining unsprung weight to the wrong guy; It's like explaining gravity to Isaac Newton.
Finally you're looking at putting speakers in your car so GTFO with the weight crap. Get some decent mats that protect the carpet. It's a cheap and smart investment. Your Thread on Speakers
