You are not the only one tuning in here, so a little explanation never hurts, especially if it expands the knowledge base for our fellow enthusiasts I also posted the explanation recently on another thread, so it was an easy copy/paste for me to post it.

When I got my car, I wasn't planning on the direction I'm currently on. I had 18/19 heavy replicas, and it was time to replace them. I just recently (this last year) decided to go the direction I've chosen.

I'm actually replacing my carpet, so no need. I see you have been following my posting around here. Then you should know that I actually have no stereo whatsoever. It's been completely removed. Yeah I'll probably replace it this summer, but not because I necessarily want to. Besides, how realistic is it to run a street car, and never have a stereo? Eventually the wife complains enough, and it goes back in

Lightweight is just a theme I run with my car, and I have taken what I believe to be logical steps to mitigate the weight handicap I have since I drive a coupe, so it doesn't have to make sense to you. If I don't need it, and it doesn't effect the driveability much, I lose it. 5 lbs of carpet in a vehicle that never sees rain...yeah, I'll make that consideration. However, if I ever expect my wife to go anywhere with me, some compromises gotta be made I also don't like the look of stock Z wheels :/

I looked up wheel weights, and this is what I came up with...

Stock wheels Z06
Z06 fronts weigh about 19 lbs 17x9.5
Z06 rears weigh about 20 lbs 18x10.5

Forgestars in my sizes
F14 fronts weigh 18.4 lbs. 18x9.5
F14 rears weigh 25.5 lbs. 19x11

I did not find tire weights :/

So yes, they are in total heavier than stock Z wheels, but they are pretty light considering the size difference. My deep dish thin spokes I had before were 18x9.5 fronts, and 19x10 rears, and weighed 33 lbs rear, and 27 lbs front. So my weight savings from there was 8.6 lbs front, and 7.5 lbs for the rears, totaling 16.1 lbs rotating mass

My car looks goofy the way it is right now with stockers, so I will eat a little weight for what effectively makes the look of my car work. Still, it's a significant improvement over what it had before, and stylish to boot

That looks nice!

Did you use a heat gun to form the carpet at all?

I follow your posts because I love the look of your car.

I just wasn't going to take it on the chin over the weight of floor mats haha.

Unacceptable what many companies are passing off as carpet, leather etc. Youd expect that in a cheapie import not an expensive car; same with lovely orange peely paint.

It's all good I am mistaken for being a dick sometimes. I am just very direct, and perhaps overly technical with a lot of my responses, and that comes off as pompous occasionally. I do everything to my car for thoroughly thought out reasons, so if I feel like I need to explain myself, I break it all down systematically.

Yes, the stock carpet does kind of suck :/ it's thin, and wirey, and every time I detail it, I pull tufts of it up in the passengers' foot well. It forms nicely over the intricate pieces that make up the back wall of the rear compartment, but the rest of it is like Chevy used the same supplier that they did for the Cavalier

No, there is no way to heat form home carpet.

Aint that the truth! I am shocked at the carpet quality but I can see it if weight savings is what you are going after so in the Z it makes sense. I just want to make mine a little more luxurious. The sound deadening was the first step and wow what a difference!
