Hello all, i have a 97 C5 and the left side door panel is come un-glued at the arm rest elbow. I took it to upholstery shop and they said it is common problem however there is no good fix but to replace the panel. I am wondering if anyone has heard of good fix? and also if anyone knows of place to get a good used panel i have looked at several salvage yards and it seems that the left one is hard to find. I suppose because of this very reason. Your help is greatly appreciated.
There is a thread here with lots of pics showing someon who carefull drilled a bunch of holes in the plastic backer, put some sort of glue through the holes, then compressed the leather back to the panel. Dont remember details beyond that.
There was a how to that some guy wrote involving a shop vac and some glue that you use to basically vacuum the piece back in to place and hold it there while the glue dries. It ruins the shop vac.
Honestly, it's probably a lot easier to get a new panel from a part out and just repaint with SEM to match your interior.
check car-part.com if you can't find anything here or local to you.

Here is a file that discusses fixing the delamination on that area of the door. Good luck if you try this.
Also, a good place for a used door panel is someone like VetteNuts or other forum vendors that deal in used parts.
Another option is to get an arm rest from various vendors - I got mine from Vette Essentials, but depending on how bad the delamination is, you may have to address that first before installing the new armrest.
