What makes an engine an LS? I'm sure this is a dumb question
I have an 03 silverado with the 6.0,is this a LS motor?
yes, it's just the engine series that GM puts on them. My 69 Camaro with a 396 was a L78 // a Chevelle with a 454 with aluminum heads was a LS 6 !!! don't know why GM couldn't come up with a better way ???
The big upgrade from the older SBC was the heads have a 15deg valve angle vs the 23deg heads of old. The 15deg head is a better design and flowed more air thus making more power. There were other changes like the cathedral ports ( newer LS motors have a square port) and the block mains etc.
