That is correct that bar is stock!!! Love uninformed owners...
some may not have had their door panels off, or spend as much time here as some others ?? I have always wanted to know as much as I can with all my cars or trucks. I have been a Tech most of my life and still will read my owners manual more than once or twice !!
EUBANK, Ky. (LEX 18) -- A Pulaski County woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office, two victims were ejected from a 2002 Chevrolet Corvette on East Highway 70 in Eubank,
Witnesses told police that the vehicle was heading West when the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle. The automobile left the roadway, struck a concrete culvert and embankment before becoming airborne. The car flipped several times before coming to rest in a field. The operator, Timothy J. Barron, Jr. age 37 of Eubank, Kentucky and Rhonda Sandidge, age 50, of Eubank, Kentucky were both ejected from the vehicle.
Both victims were treated at the scene by Somerset-Pulaski County EMS. Barron was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Sandidge was transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.
The crash is still under investigation at this time.
Maybe even wearing seat belts, the violent flipping is what caused them to be ejected?? Either way
It is sad about what decisions people make that causes harm to others while driving. I had my time driving very stupid 40 years ago and by the grace of luck/god/whatever, I did not hurt/kill someone or myself. At soon to be 74, I drive defensively and enjoy the ride, not the risk. If these people had seat belts on, they should have never been ejected. It would not surprise me to find out they were either alcohol or drug impaired.

Not an expert but I think it may be possible to be ejected in a violent rollover spin. The seat is not even in place anymore. It would be interesting to know how fast and if seatbelts were on.
I didn't flip multiple times, but I did roll a car over at a young age...I was wearing my seat belt and it held me in place...I say they were not wearing them...maybe it was that experience at a young age, but I do not drive through a parking lot without my belt on, sorry for those who choose not to, but the chance it save me vs kills me(that can happen) is worth it to me, I do not understand non belt users...I am amazed that cabin is in relatively good shape for multiple rollover, always wondered in the roof would hold up. I am also glad I ditched the stock seats, hard to say if the seat failed or something human caused(the whole seat looks like it was unbolted...), but the seats in our cars are laughable. RIP, too young still...so sad if it was preventable.

This was just a quick google search, FTR I always wear my seat belt and won't drive anyone who will not put it on.
Anything is possible, and it's the Internet, you can find anyone to agree with what you are searching for...like this google search....glad you wear it, i beleive you are safer with it. Modern seat belt retractors lock so quickly I think it would be more a seat failure that allows you to come out 3 pt isn't the best I realize that, and every crash will be different, if they were then it was pure driver error that resulted in this outcome, and not a lack of safety equipment.

My reply was simply to point out that from the provided information we simply don't know if they were wearing belts or not. Nor do we know if it was driver error from the limited info. I was saying earlier it would be interesting to know what happened but in many of these cases we never find out.
What a damn shame...........a couple of moments is all it would have took to click those belts on....
Had they done so she would be alive today and not front page news

I'm honestly not trying to debate seatbelts as I believe they work. But do you know for sure a seatbelt was not used? It would be interesting to know the details. Im not saying you are wrong, I just have not seen that reported yet.
Oldest daughter clipped a telephone pole in mid barrel roll with this car's A-pillar. (Her younger sister here checking out the wreck.) Police figured car rolled 3-5 times. Luckily she was wearing a seatbelt. Hospital was about to release her after several hours but ended up keeping her overnight when she turned a few shades of green when she tried to stand up. Injuries were limited to a cut on her head and concussion.

No need to act that way. Not everyone knows everything. I can guarantee there are many things you have no knowledge of but you dont see us acting like you just did. Chill out and be a part of a community.
Having been to more of these type scenes than I can remember over the course of a thirty plus year career I can vouch that ejections very rarely end well and have a pretty high probability of inducing a fatality. Hopefully the investigating agency has a highly trained accident investigator who will be able to sort out this very unfortunate accident and determine cause. Very sadly, one life ended and the other probably affected for the rest of his. I'm hoping we all take a lesson from an incident like this and while enjoying our hobby we make every effort to stay safe. Take care, Friou.

The car I rolled over was an 88 Grand Prix Cpe... passenger side crushed in similar to that...before the time of cell cameras so I have no pictures, I walked away with a broken pinky...

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
