Default Engine strap ground

I need to replace the engine strap ground on my C5, looks like the heat from my headers damaged the ground and is now causing a short. I plan on buying the strap from autozone. I know the ground is located on the back of the block (driver side) but my question to you guys is, what is the best method for removing the bolt from the block? Space is limited and the bolt is at a strange angle. Thank You.

Just an idea. Why not find a more convenient place to attach the new strap and away from the headers?

The engine ground cannot cause a short. It may lose it's ability to ground the engine efficiently but it won't short out.

Yes sir, thats a given of course. Definetely making sure the ground clears all components next time. If you read my post again, you'll notice that I posted on the forums to possibly get some advice on how to go about removing the bolt on the back of the block with the limited space. Any advice?

Just another idea. Why not cut the old strap off and leave that bolt in?

You may need to go to Harbor Freight.

You get the car in the air, jack stands work fine, put a wrench on the bolt and remove it. Installation is the reverse. If the bolt is hard to reach, then you have to find a way. That's how I do things.

Use a flex head ratchet to remove the old one then install a different one in a alternate location. I added a ground strap on my car that goes from the lower belt tensioner bolt to the ground point right behind the right hood hinge

I took these shots while installing my headers. The underside shot after installation, it appears that a swivel ratchet like the one pictured at Harbor Freight, I have one similar, should easily reach. Maybe put the socket on the bolt on the block first then snap the racket onto it. The top bolt is easily accessible from the top.
