Just an observation
While enjoying a screensaver preview a bit ago, I noticed how I liked all the cars with custom wheels.
When I purchased my '97 back in '07, one of the previous owners had upgraded to the chrome thin-spokes. And I was glad he did! I didn't care for the look of the "wagon wheels".
But now, I guess I'm just getting (old) used to the same look. I remember reading here a few years ago, a guy was on his fourth or fifth set!
However, since there's no flaws in them and they still look fine, I'll probably keep them a while longer.
Any of you have a "wheel fetish"?

I wouldn't say I have a "fetish". But I do have a belief that custom wheels are the best way to make your car stand out from the pack. And it's always the first thing I upgrade when purchasing a car.

I'm just the opposite. I don't like the thin spoked wheels. They show way too much of the nasty looking stuff that's behind the wheels. When I get my C5, it will either have chrome wagon wheels on it, or I will put them on...

When I was a teenager almost everyone wanted chrome wheels. I had friends who spent more money on replacement wheels than they did on their car. A common motto was "if it don't go, CHROME IT". So I had my chrome reverse, Crager SS, and some slotted wheels so someone would look at my ride. Then I became an adult and lost the need for extra bling. The factory wheels on my vert look just fine like they did when it was new.

A nice set of wheels with the proper tires is undoubtedly the easiest way to "customize" your ride.

That being said, if money were no issue I would have had multiple sets of wheels over the lifetime of a vehicle as I do get bored and like to mod my car. It's just too costly and difficult to find buyers to make that a reality for me.

I agree with this statement. IMO, wheels are the single most important design element that can make or break a car. Choose incorrectly and you can definitely take a nice car and put it in the crapper. And vice versa. I debate over which wheels to put on my cars extensively to ensure I'll be happy.

I used to buy a new set almost every season for my last few cars, change is good. At one point I had 4 sets of wheels/tire combo for one vehicle ...Corvette tax is killer now though, but I will have another set, I have the Z06 stockers up on the shelf, and black chrome Z06 reps on now, CCW will be my third choice eventually.
And why? Why, would anyone want wagon wheels??.......like stated above, UGH

I went from the stock polished 5 spokes to the chrome GS wheels. I'm getting close to wanting a set of darker wheels as well...
I can here my wife already, didn't you just buy those other ones!

Wheels are one of the quickest and easiest things that a person can do to totally change the look of a vehicle. I've gone through a lot of different sets of wheels over the years and will probably go through more as time goes on.

To me wagon wheels...chrome or not, just scream base model and outdated. The thin spokes aren't much better, but at least seem a bit sportier. A few of the C6 styles give me the same vibe.
