Upshift now/engine protection warning
I was driving along in 3rd gear around 3k rpm and after giving it a few light throttle inputs, I saw the upshift now light came on. After the first time, I confirmed what caused it by just barely pushing the gas again and saw the upshift now message flash again. But then the LED said engine protection. And the car stopped responding to the gas pedal. It began idling funny. I managed to slow down and pull into a parking lot. I shut off the ignition. I waited about 30 seconds before starting it again and everything seems to be fine. Any idea what caused that engine protection warning ? I read in an old thread that the upshift now light is just a fuel economy thing, but in this case, it seemed like the engine protection warning occurred after 2-3 consecutive upshift now warnings happened.
