Default ACA first gen headlights

Hey guys I bought a set of ACA first gen headlights and someone stuffed a set of Race Sport LED's in the housing, they look like 9005's . They don't fit at all and in fact the PO cut up the back of the cap that's screws down up. What bulbs originally went into these housings? We're can I get a decent quality HID set of bulbs to go in them.

Radio Flyer Innovations does a lot of work with those housings. Not rally sure what your options are with those since the previous guy cut them up. Radio Flyer offers a modification to them for about $300 that totally replaces the cheap projector with a higher quality one and he also aligns each housing correctly. But if you can get something else to work im sure he has HID kits available.

I stuffed Morimoto FX-R 3.0s into mine. What a pain that was, love the light output though with 55 watt HIDs. If you're not afraid of custom fabrication, you can easily put in Morimoto Mini H1 7.0s or Acme Mini H1s.

I'm talking to him now, I wasn't going to go bi-xenon as the car isn't driven much at night but I think I'm going to have to. Radio Flyer is the man by the way.
Here is a pic of the hacked one

I'm not a custom fabricator either, I built custom support pieces using ABS plastic sheets, a Sawzall, and a drill.

Well I'm waiting to hear back from the seller, who first told me they were Radio Flyer headlights, second told me they had no issues and were in perfect shape and third told me the bulbs both worked. If I don't hear from them by Mon or Tue I'll let everyone know who it was, as they are a forum vendor. I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt first though.

If they won't make it right I'm going to send them off to Radio Flyer and have him do his mod.

Having owned both the Radioflyer ACA and the Taiwan reproduction ACA, I can tell you neither of them look like what you have. It seems to me that what you have are the cheap junk Chinese Ebay ones.

Can't tell for sure without seeing the front though. I don't think Radioflyer will mod the Chinese ACAs.

They are first Gen ACA not cheap Chinese copies. Radio Flyer confirmed it.

The originals used the D1S bulbs for lows and 9005 for highs.

The made in Taiwan version is the original mold, they just switched the lows to h9 years ago to keep costs down.

Hopefully you can get the D1S to fit after those modifications they made.

Would these work? They are d2 headlights but with the angled socket.

I doubt it. You need d1s HID bulbs that look like these

Amazon Amazon

Then you need the correct d1s cable from the ballast to the bulb

Then a decent battery based relay wiring harness to hook it all together.

Here is a d1s ballast,

Amazon Amazon

Note that the cable connections differ from the basic universal HID ballasts.

Here is an entire ds1 based kit with bulbs and ballasts.
