Security light
on sometimes and this has caused car not to start, had a new ignition switch put in, it's cracking okay now but is there something else I need
to get checked out because it might do it again, thank you.
The key cylinder has the sensor that reads the pellet on the key and is directly related to the cars security system and the no start if the key pellet is not correctly read. When you insert the key into the key cylinder the pellet passes over two rollers that read the pellet. If the value of the read pellet matches the stored value in the PCM the Theft Deterrent Relay allows the starter to turn the engine when the key is turned to the start position. If the value read does not match the stored value the Theft Deterrent Relay prevents the starter from turning the engine.
The ignition switch is turned by the key cylinder when the key is inserted into it and the key turned. The ignition switch is NOT related to the cars security but rather is responsible for placing battery voltage on the various circuits that are "switched" or turned on when the key is in the ON position.
