I cant seem to figure out the right thing to search to get an answer on this.
Starting last week my passanger side light has been acting weird. So it wouldnt open up one day, but after turning the lights on and off a few times it finally worked and has worked since then.
But something happened durring that time. Now whenever I shut the lights off it sounds like the motor is still going for about 5-7 seconds after the light goes down. What would be the cause of this?
I checked those little bump stop things and they are in good shape. Where else should I be looking

You need to replace the gear in the motor that lowers and raises the headlight door.
It is plastic, and more than likely broken.
Replace, as many of us have, with the brass replacement.
I completely agree, had the same problem with my passenger side headlight and sure enough, the plastic gear was toast. Ordered a new brass one, installed, and everything is great now. The brass gear I had came with instructions, pretty easy to do. I would recommend putting painter's tape around the opening of the headlight so paint doesn't get scratched when you pull headlight out.
More than likely stripped gears, but it can also be something as simple as the little white "bump stops" that limit the travel of the housing being worn/missing. Did you flip them when you were in there?
