Default C5 Interior Square Feet

Sorry if I missed it but I'm trying to find out how many square feet of insulation material is needed for a C5 base coupe. As a matter of fact, if anyone wants to chime in on which sound/heat deadening material they like, feel free as I haven't made up my mind yet. Also, pre-cut kit or rolls/sheet? Thanks

I too am curious. Looking at buying a 72 sq ft box of dynamat extreme or a 36 sq ft box. I think I will go with the 72 sq ft box.

I used about 80 sq ft to do my Corvette. This included doors and minimal scrapping.

5 rolls of Frost King self adhesive duct insulation cover entire interior.

Did you do this installation?

If so, what brand did you go with and what all did you cover in your car?

I just got done doing my black 99. Used about 80 sq ft of B-Quiet Ultimate deadner and 2 full sheets of L-Comp sheets (sound absorbing material). If I was to do it all over again, I would use Vettenuts pre-cut insulation kit. Vettenuts kit costs less too.

I used the Vettnuts pre-fit kit in my 2003 C5. It's a great improvement in interior heat/sound reduction. Music and conversation inside is much improved. Interior heat (reduction) from around the tunnel is much improved!

A couple years later, I pulled the rear wheels off, and removed the rear wheel well covers. Then, I insulated the inner side of those, entirely. You have to be careful not to go too thick in a couple of areas, or they won't go back in, and the screw holes line up neatly. So....I used double layers where I could, and only one layer where there was just no more room (for more thickness).

I can tell you, it's a wonderful 'complement' to all the work you've (already) done on insulation of your interior. Blocking more road & tire noise significantly! It took me a full afternoon, because I had to 'cut & fit' a few areas a bit, to get the screw holes to line up right, when I re-installed the wheel well covers. But, so glad I did it.

I also lined the tunnel underneath with the insulated tunnel protectors you can buy.
So, it's like a package, each part complementing the others. And it will never wear out, or need to be done again, so pretty good value for your money and time/effort.
