It's a common problem on all C5s - so you're not alone. Just accept the fact that it will get dust on it and will take a little extra detailing work to keep it look clean.
If it is not a dust magnet then I have wasted time wiping mine down every day for 17 years!
The C5 definitely attracts dust like noting else. I will wipe mine down with Zaino or Chadwick's in my garage and by the time I get to the front of the car the rear bumper is already covered again!
I always wipe mine down before going to the gym and every other black Mercedes, etc. in the parking lot has no dust compared to mine. I am always walking up close to other parked black vehicles and am always amazed how the clean ones never have any dust compared to mine.
The only solution I ever found to the dust problem was when I used a product called 5-Star Shine about 10 years ago and it lasts at least 6 months. It was amazing at repelling dust on my C5, but the car did not "look" as shiny as with Zaino or Chadwick's. You could not even lay a rag on the hood without it sliding off - nothing would stick - not even dust! I watched a cat jump on my hood back then and it shot right off the other side of the car upside down - made all the work worth it just to see that!
been reading this for a couple days but wasn't going to comment . i feel that when i've used zaino z8 as a ''q d'' the car remains pretty much dust free for several days longer . that is '' several days longer '' NOT for ever . . . peace
Maybe its my imagination but it seems that my C5 is, by far, the biggest dust/dirt attractor I've owned. Being black doesn't make it any easier. As with others I've learned to just accept the fact of a california duster being part of my C5 life. My car, when not being driven, is always garaged and covered, but somehow, some way, on coming out of the garage and from under cover, it always needs a little attention to remove that fine dust that seems to magically appear. Oh well! Small price to pay. Have a good one everybody!
I suppose a physicist would have to answer that part of the question. For me, I am much more attentive to my Vette so it's easier to spot dust. California Duster is great for a quick dust-off. Just shake it out often.
I suffer from PTDD (post traumatic dust disorder) and presently in recovery mode. Thanks for the reminder...have A NICE DAY!!
I thought it was a little **** too, but some owners are like that. I wash mine maybe once or twice a year -- usually after a trip where I get caught in the rain or have gathered a lot of bug splatter. I find that my Torch red car doesn't really show the dirt very much and almost always looks good at a distance and usually close up. Washing/Cleaning a car is just not high on my priority list, even if it's a Corvette.
I've owned mine for a year now---hand washed it twice and use an 8 year old Cali Duster on it when ever I take it out, very lightly. I do use a spray on cleaner on the butt and rockers about once a month to get off some road crud.
After 6 months with a Black C4, I made sure I found a Silver C5. Dust is still there, but, less noticeable. At least the C5 sits in a closed garage when not in use. My silverish gray chevy truck has to live outside under the carport or in the driveway now. Impossible to keep it clean for more than 24 hrs. Sigh!
....... More so this time of year with all the pollen!
My wife and I took the 'Vette, yesterday, when we went to visit "the relatives". It was sunny when we left, but we got hit with a few sprinkles, on the way home...........AFTER the car had gotten hit with a shower of pollen. I'm going out shortly, to give it a bath.

UPDATE........
I washed the car, and left it outside, since I decided to wash down the garage floor, since the car was out in the driveway. By the time I got the garage floor done, the car was full of pollen again.
..........could be worse, though, at least it wasn't snow!
