Default 02 Z06... flash to pass?

Hi,

I have a 99 coupe and just got a Z.
I noticed in the owners manual there is a reference to that feature where if the lights were off, and you pulled the high beam stalk, the fog lights would come on to flash someone you were going to pass.

On the Z (which has no fogs) when I do that the hi beam lights turn on but the buckets do not raise. Curious if anyone else has noticed that.

Thanks... Pete

Of course. Because that is what pulling the stalk does. It flashes the high beams.

Since the C5 has retractable headlights, pulling on the stalk will not raise the headlights. If you do have fog lights, pulling on the stalk with the headlights down will flash the fog lights. That's the only way you're going to get the flash-to-pass feature without raising the headlights.

Yes, the lights turn on but the buckets do not come up... so it is just illuminating behind the fascia... no light is seen outside the car.

And the buckets only raise when the stalk is turned, because that's the way it's wired. The C5 Z06 does not have flash to pass unless you install fog lights, it is well known information that has been discussed before.

That's strange, my buckets come up when I pull the stalk back. I have to hold it for 2 or 3 seconds, but they do come up.

Well I'll be damned. Just tried it. It works!!! Why not use this method to say howdy to another Vette instead of the wave? A hell of a lot easier to do than waving. Should we start a new trend with this knowledge?

I know this is what I am going to be doing. So when this becomes a nation wide trend you have read right here who started it!!!

I'm in, but only with other C5's. Other corvettes will still get the classic one finger wave made popular by Mr. Bean.

I tried holding the stalk for like 5 seconds and the buckets never came up on my z06.

Weird that they would on some but not others.

Believe it or not there are actually corvette owners who aren't in their 60's yet, so no performance enhancing drugs needed yet!
