Mmmmmm met a corvette owner at a meet of Z06 97-99 I presumed that had Chrome Wagon Wheels and he told me he ordered them from the factory when he purchased the car new.
Absolutely. NO chrome wheels for the C5 from the factory. Possibly the Stealership sent them out to be chromed but NOT from the factory.
A friend ordered his '98 convertible new and the dealer sold him a set of chrome stock rims a few months later that they had chromed and kept in inventory. I think that some of dealers saw the oppportunity at the time to make some extra money since the demand was there however there weren't any chrome or polished OEM rim options by GM for the first 3 years of the C5 production.

I guess those decals were from the same dealer as the chrome rims came from. Well, I do know it was an FRC so that's a plus. I went along with the story and listened. I don't remember if it had vents behind the doors. I did not see the engine bay.
Can't wait to see it again and get a picture of the VIN :-) I don't think this guy's going to heaven

No chrome wheels from the factory, but a number of aftermarket vendors did offer a wheel exchange program where you bought a set of OEM wheels that had been chromed and then sent in your wheels as a core exchange. I did this when I had my '99 coupe - bought the chrome wheels from Ecklers and I will say the chrome wagon wheels looked a whole lot better on the car.

From the factory NO C5 ever had chrome wheels as an option. Painted or polished only.
NOPE, wagon wheels ONLY were only available from GM in GREY NOT polished ............ anything else is either the Dealership chroming as a option for customers or aftermarket rims.
CORRECTION - I just realized that the WW's did also come in GOD awful yellow which GM supplied on the purple pace car .......... I just threw up in my mouth because of this wheel violation

I still have the chrome wagons on my '99 black vert. Still kicking around the idea of replacing them with something more contemporary, but I really do think, and this is just my unpopular opinion, that the chrome wagons look pretty darn good against the black C5. They may end up staying for some time to come. Best wishes to all!
Being in the minority as well, I like the chrome wagon wheels, Black wagon wheels and Silver painted WW's with the thin or thick black decals on the spokes.
I have a set of the infamous WW's in my back yard. Painted version so no real big deal. I've always thought about sending them to a wheel shop and have them widened an inch to be the C5Z sizes with a little lip and then chromed. I get to the point of actually going outside and looking at them. Then I shake my head, NOPE, can't do it. So there they sit until I lose my sanity and get it done. Don't get me wrong, I do like the wheel more then I thought I would, so until I ever decide to do something different they'll stay in the yard I guess.
