I'm hardly an expert but....have tried soooo many different bulbs and systems including HID and the LED, so far, is the best for me. Make sure you choose the latest generation of LED.
The LED throws a soft white light. I can see a distance like never before.
I used 6000k. This is perfect for my application.
I'm not expert either but LEDs work best with headlights without projectors (like stock), while HIDs work best with headlights with projectors (like most aftermarket). This is what i heard from several light shops around my area. Also if you are interested in doing the rest of your car go to http://shop.radioflyerinnovations.com/main.sc. They have extremely nice bulbs for the whole car.

This is interesting information to know. I have the older ACA setup on my car with HIDs for low-beams only. The low beams are excellent, but the high beams are practically useless. I am now curious if updating my high beam bulbs to LEDs would help out? Does anybody know which bulbs I would want for the ACA high beams? Thanks!

It is interesting but I can't really say that it is accurate or not lol LED light typically scatters in all directions in the equal light but doesn't travel far, maybe the stock mirror back help the scattered light go forward and travel better? HIDs don't have a large scatter radius on the light and is more "straight forward" and typically travels a good distance (mostly depending on what color / K you get, higher the K less the distance / brightness) but not like a laser at all. Kinda hard to explain that one...
I just tried throwing some LED headlights in my c5 and had issues with the headlights not wanting to close. The company sent me a resistor harness for free but the wiring wasnt long enough. I ended up just tossing the halogen 9006s back in

Just got get a two rolls of wire (white for hot, black for ground) from auto parts store near you with some connectors! Don't give up just yet. Plus if you don't feel good enough to do it, bring it to someone you know can do it.

It really isnt even a concern of mine anymore, as I dont usually have it out at night. Already shipped the bulbs back and onto new things for the Vette.

Ah ok, I mostly have mine out at night for racing lol Lights were the first things I got
Why are the high beams so weak & pathetic? They might as well not even have high beams on a C5 from what I've seen. Has anybody installed LED'S in the high beams yet in here? Thanks Steve
Gonna be honest, even on my new headlights the C5-r replicas, i dont have the high beams installed, never needed or used them with the HIDs in the projector bulbs.

What company did you use?
I am looking at www.vette-lights.com there is a youtuber who reviewed them.... here:
LED "bulbs" in halogen housings will never give proper light output, with the exception of the Philips H4 bulb ($200+ for a pair), and even then, it is barely better than stock bulbs. It is whiter but puts out about the same lumens. Anyone that says otherwise is delusional.
The best bulb for the stock halogen housings will always be HIR bulbs. Aftermarket projectors are crap regardless of bulb used, unless retrofitted with true HID projectors.
Did you watch the youtube video above? Excellent light output from the LED bulbs.
I believe HIR bulbs are not in production anymore... there is a similar product but not the same.
Read Daniel Stern. More foreground light (which the LEDs are doing) do not equal better lighting. Additionally, based on the video, it appears to have a significant amount of glare, which isn't good either.
