Mn6 was the regular everyday standard transmission (4T65E)

I believe the Z51 option with different gearing was MZ6

You have AQ9 listed in your options as the sport seats

[QUOTE=Murray Anderson;1594818532]Mn6 was the regular everyday standard transmission (4T65E)
/QUOTE]

MN6 is the base standard transmission. It is not however a 4T65E which is an automatic transmission call out and not for a Corvette. The 4L60E is the automatc tranny for the Corvette. The 4 indicates 4 speed, the T indicates Transverse mount (front wheel drive) L would be Longitudinal mount (rear wheel drive), 65 or 60 is the family of transmission and the E indicates electronically controlled.

The Z06 has an M12 manual transmission which is geared a little more agressively. Not sure about Z51 package. I thought they had the MN6 but had the rear end ratio of a Z06.

I think the R92 indicates the car was ordered with the options by a specific customer vs optioned by GM to be placed on a lot.

MM6 - Borg & Warner 6 speed manual transmission
MN6 - merchandised Transmission

So why have two different codes for the transmission? MM6 & MN6?

MN6 only means the car has a manual transmission. Lets the factory know it has a clutch pedal, wiring, console pieces, etc..

MM6 specifies which manual transmission.

*A Z06 would have RPO MN6 & M12

I believe all manual C5's use the same 3.42 rear end. The only difference is the transmission gearing itself. MN6 being LS1 cars, MN12 being LS6 cars.

Now that you mention it, I think you're correct.
